Brief Biography
Mexico City-born American, Prof. Rubén Pelayo (Ph.D., University of California, Riverside) is professor Emeritus of Latin American literature, Southern Connecticut State University. His research encompasses film, music, the visual arts, and the lives of iconic Latin American figures, among others: Eva Perón, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Che Guevara, and the 1982 Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez, whom he met in Mexico City. A published author and world traveler, he has experienced life in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa. He has spent most of his life in New England and Southern California. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian. He lives in Connecticut.
